Water tank

Postby erikadee » Sat Sep 08, 2007 4:49 pm

I hvea 560 Prestige with a 22lt onboard tank, but I have no idea how to get the water into the tank other than a hosepipe through the side of the van. I would like to pump it in electrically from a water roll, but have no idea how to fit it. Can anyone help.

Kind regards
Erika

Are you talking about the stupid "Rolltank" which lifts out of a side door, and that you are expected to wheel to the water point, or a permanently installed tank with an external filler cap?

Hi, the tank is a 22lt fixed under the bed, with just a pipe to the outside of the caravan. I don't know how to fit a pump from the water butt to inside the tank.

Any help would be appreciated

Kind regards

Hi Erika,
I assume that by filling 'through the side of the van' you mean through the filler cap on the outside? 22 litres capacity for an on-board tank is actually quite small - you could replace it with a bigger one from CAK tanks. Secondly, I also thought about pumping water into my tank, to then pump it again out and around the pipework (seemed a bit daft to "double pump" so I fitted an Aquaroll connection point as well - and linked additional piping with y-pieces and non-return valves and pump selectr switch (so that I WOULDN'T fill the on-board tank while using the Aquaroll). However, for the past couple of years or so we have left the aquaroll at home and now just use a lightweight plastic watering can t keep the tank topped up through the filler cap - it really is so much simpler all round............and we travel with some water in the on-board tank for use en route. Works a treat! I can recommend it. Try it first before going to all that trouble of 'double pumping' etc.

We've got the "stupid rolltank" that Roy refers to & get on with it fine  Like Chubbs I travel with water on board (Joeressons were amazed that anyone should not do so!!) and top up with a watering can - dead simps and lovely when you arrive on site.
