Upgrade Truma Therme to Ultrastore

Postby mingdiesel » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:18 pm

Hi seancochrane1

Alternatively you could take this opportunity to upgrade the truma therme to either electroboiler or 10L/14L Gas or Gas/Elec Truma Ultrastore.

I use air through to blow water through taps out of drain before winter, my friend who's dad runs a caravan business says frost damage is common on TrumaTherme because they do not self drain even with both drain cocks fully open.

This is the way I want to go as therme is ok on 230VAC but hopeless on Gas and I'm trying to use my 540UK on CL's for short overnight stops with no 230.

If you want you can buy my truma therme (2 yrs old) as I'm planning to upgrade. New trumatherme costs about 150, mine still in caravan, used last week. I could use this against 330 for upgrade to Ultrastore.

Truma Therme TT2

Postby seancochrane1 » Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:00 pm

Thanks for your help gents but i was too impatient and purchased one on e-bay for £160 BY LEISURE PRODUCTS, very good delivery arrived in two days i fitted it yesterday, those clips the germans use are a nightmare to take off so have replaced them with Jubilee clips, i think i will remove the whole unit each winter, only took 1/2 hour to fit.

Live and learn eh?

Hi Sean,

I bought my 540UF new from Germany in 2003. It stays outside all year - winters in the open storage site - and I have never had any problems with the water heater tank. Every year I have released the drain taps beside the heater tank, disconnected all 12v supply to taps (pull fuse) and opened all taps . Result? water pipes and tanks totally empty.

It has worked fine for 6 years! ............and we are in Scotland!

.............an afterthought.............

If you have a shower fitted, remove the shower head. They are notorious for holding water which freezes and cracks the head. Just remove it and shake the water out.
