Hi there, me and my missus are the proud new owners of a 1996 Hobby 535 ,bit on the old side but solid ,needs a bit of tlc and parts etc, hope someone can help, here goes,

1/We need some keys that are lost etc, are we forced to buy new locks and keys,?

2/ if so where does one go?

3/ is there any id on the locks themselves that would help find the keys? or am i being thick and optimistic?

3/ can one buy a user manual anywhere?

4/ the power points seem to be 2 pin european style i guess,

5/Can one replace them with 3 pin uk sockets, if so where do i connect the earth wire as the 2 pin sockets at present will just be live and nuetral ?

I think thats well enough for my first go, any help greatly appreciated, cheers George.

Hi George,

You could try Ambergate Caravans for the keys which might be able to be provided from the Chassis Number that will be found on the small metal plate on the side wall of your Hobby.

I would suggest telephoning them as you don't want to send them the Chassis number in an unsecure e-mail?

Contact details are as follows:

Tel: 01773853900 press 2 when you get connected and it will put you through to 'Service'

I would also ask about a User Manual but you might find that they are only available in 'German'.

You can buy UK equivalent mains sockets to fit in place of the 2 Pin European but remove and check the wiring on the 2 Pin as there is normally an Earth Wire connected to the metal strip fitted into the wall of the socket.
I have been using a couple of Continental to UK converters that plug straight into the 2 Pin Euro Sockets without any problems but the Earth is wired up in mine.

Best wishes and hope you enjoy your Hobby.

Hi George & Debs.

Happy to help, and hope you have a GREAT time with your Hobby.

We use ours all year round as they are considerably warmer than English caravans and when all around us was frozen solid we could still pump water to make a tea or coffee!

Best wishes
