Truma Electroboiler

Postby VinceGander » Mon Jul 04, 2005 6:56 pm

I found the Hobby fitted Trumatherme water heater totally inadequate with only 5 litres of water. I have just fitted Truma's new Electroboiler which is 14 litres with an 800 watt heater. It heats to 70C and apparently, with it's special insulation only loses 1C per hour. It's very easy to fit, just by-pass the hot air ducting and the plumbing is a straight swap apart from fitting a different drain valve. Electrics is a straight swap of the wires into the connector strip as well.

Until now I haven’t found a “therme” of any nature so apparently I don’t have one since that also the water outlets do not seem to have a cold-hot function, only one way.

So Q1 : Can it be retro fitted???? By me???

Also I don’t have a shower ( since there is not any shower hose visible ( could it be hidden somewhere?)

So Q2: So also that can be retro fitted???? By me?????

By me I mean that I am a pretty skilled DIY with more than an average tooling and dare!!!

The van is sited with a permanent 230volt supply from the site.

Q3 I have two water tanks. One for the toilet of unknown to me capacity, and one tiny “bucket” that through a pump it gives water to the kitchen and the bathroom. It is situated inside a small closet and should be something like 20 liters or less, its white semi transparent kan I install a bigger one??? Where?????

Sorry for the length but I need your collective assistance!!! :D :D

Truma Electroboiler

Hi, sorry for the delay, but I've been away on holiday.
The electroboiler itself is easy to fit, only requiring flexible hose plumbing and a mains connection. Full installation instructions come with it. What bothers me though, is if you have no hot water system at all, you will need to install all the hot water plumbing throughout the caravan from scratch, and it may mean fitting new taps as well. This would apply to a shower, assuming you have a suitable cubicle. You should be able to find a space for a water tank, ours is under the dining area seating and holds about 50 litres.
You don't say what model or year your caravan is, it seems strange not to have a hot water system. You could contact Hobby UK at www.hobbycaravansuk.co.uk and ask their advice.

Its a Hobby 550 deluxe tkm.

The complicity that you just described may put me away, ince installing a big tank means also that you have now to cut a hole on the van's body to be able to re-fill it.....

+ some yhings I have read that the "shower prepaired" toilete is not so prepered concearning leaking...
