Replacing AC heating element in Fridge

Postby orkney » Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:47 pm

Our Hobby 650 has an Electrolux 3 way fridge. I have a new element to allow it to coll on 240v,

Has anyone done this before. Is it a sink off job or can it be done from the exterior vents.

Hope to hear from someone

Fridge Element

Postby Hobbynut » Tue Sep 19, 2006 4:10 pm

I have got a 710 and had the element replaced by a professional company. The sink stays in place but you have to remove the panel above the fridge which has the fridge control knobs on ( may also have on knobs for gas rings ) main gas supply pipe needs to be disconnected, this is situated on mine at top right hand side of fridge. Remove air vents as you have suggested and take off the flue for the gas. Inside fridge are screws on left and right hand side possibly hidden by plastic plugs. these need to be removed to detach fridge from cabinet in which it is mounted. fridge should then slide forwards and you will have enough room to replace element without having to totally remove fridge from its housing.
Its 14 months since mine was replaced so some very fine detail may be missing from above instructions. If mine goes again I would have no hesitation in having a go myself based on the above information. However I am not sure of legal implications of non qualified person such as me playing around with joints on a gas pipe?
Hope This helps
