Transporting an 8ft van for repair

Postby andypreece » Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:50 am

We have a Hobby 720 ukfe which needs to be transported from Abersoch to Lancaster for repair.

We have never towed the van and have been quoted £880 + VAT by a company called CADS to transport it to and from the repairers on a the back of a transporter. This seems steep, especially as we are not sure we can recover the cost.

Has anyone used any companies to transport their 8ft van so that we can at least get some other quotes?

Not used any , although theres lots & lots of companies on Ebay that carry/delivier caravans, boats etc, maybe worth getting a price from them as at least they are all compeeting against each other for the buisness so you might get a good deal there........always check their feedback , that way you will soon know who has done it before & what the service was like

cheers

Hi ,

Transporting is expensive , but you could - if it is towable , try to enlist / pay for the help of an individual with a commercial vehicle to tow it there for you . That would at least bring the cost down a little .

I have tried to get a 720ukfe transported from Cheshire to Devon and can sympathise . It's now getting towed by a Lorry .

kindest
