Hi All!

New to this site. Found some of the topics interesting. Have a few views myself.
I'm on my 2nd Hobby van and considering buying a 560 UFf as it is getting too expensive to tow a bigger van about with the price of unleaded going ever upwards - 12-14 MPG while towing (plus I prefer the island bed in this one - been after one for a while!!)
Never had a problem towing an 8'0 wide outfit - my philosophy is if you have the necessary experience and an adequate (weight & power) towing vehicle then it's not a problem. Many a look from the Plod but never been pulled in Scotland, England or Wales.
Some might find this useful - I'm insured with a broker callled Lister-Patrick who doesn't have a problem with Hobbys. Their phone no is 01494 434340. Rates are reasonable. And nothing in the small print about not being insured in the event of an accident? They assured me I was covered.
Hope this might help some fellow Hobbyests :P

Yes, I would love to be able to tow a wide-bodied van too. I know it is physically possible, and I believe I have enough experience to handle the extra few inches.

The problem is "The UK Law" - I don't have a tow vehicle plated heavier than 3500kg in order to be legal.
And unfortunately Insurance companies are not permitted to insure an illegal act. Doesn't matter what they say, it is not legally allowed!

If 'Plod' ever gets clued up on the law he'll know you are driving without insurance!

Good luck mate and I hope it all works out OK. Meantime I'll stay totally legal thanks.

Re. Lister Patrick, do read their small print very carefully, especially with regard to excess.
