Its crazy eh, just when i thought there wasn't much to hooked on at 47, got some nice guitars,a sports car for the occasional sunny weekend up here in Scotland, along came our 1996 hobby 535 caravan that i know will be at the heart of my spare time from now on, it needs some tlc and parts, ive posted the first of many questions on the forum and hope some experienced caravaners can help, hope we all get the long hot summer the met guys keep banging on about, think we deserve one eh ? Hailing from near to Falkirk (Stirlingshire for those across the border) and a tad older with hubby hitting the big 60 this year (a lot younger in heart and body, thankfully) and I'm not far behind but other than that we can see just where you are coming from.....
David already owns the guitars and is cosseting the last one of his beloved motorbikes which is little used but part of his life. Now then, a biker with a 'van, you muse? Yup, with time for both, although the bike may only come out of cobwebs to get him up to the West Coast where the 'van spends its summers, while I trail behind in the truck-loaded with lifes necessities and three Borzois. The girls are a very glamorous laid-back ancient breed of hound, a more recent addition to our household and the original reson for opting for a caravan. We elected not to holiday abroad again as we did not want to kennel the dogs. The eldest took an instant dislike to holidaying because of the flapping of the huge Coleman tent against its poles and demanded something more luxurious. Thank you Tasha and girls!
Vanning friends advised "Coachman" as they knew our tastes, so we bought a Pastiche which has served us very well indeed but after 5 years we have had time to look and envy the Hobby owners and their 'vans. Now it is time to own one of our own... just to keep the girls happy, of course....
Cant resource a new 'van and are yet to purchase a Hobby as every used one we have seen has issues - good vans are obviously kept by their adoring owners. We are practical and prepared to do some work, like yourselves however are also very wary as could have had our fingers badly burned a little earlier this year with what turned out to be a very suspicious vendor but we are determined to own one now.
