Fendt caravans

Postby stetrac » Sat Dec 08, 2007 9:08 am

Having owned nothing but bessacar caravans for the last 17 years we are now going to change to a german van having had nothing but trouble
with our latest bessie and the lack of interest by swift to put right the
numerous faults on this van. .Havivg looked at fendts and being very
impressed with the build quality can anybody tell us if the heating system
is as good as the aldi system in the bessies. Would appreciate any other
advice regarding fendts........................

Not certain of current Fendt range but my last one (2003) had the standard Truma 3002 with ultraheat which was sufficient.

The Alde heating is very good.......probably too good for UK vans as it will outlast them!

not certain if you are still interested in this subject but this may help,

I have a fendt which has truma 5002 model, you get the 5002 in the bigger models most uk vans and smaller fendts have the 3002 the main difrence is you have two sets of burners on the gas (twice the out put) and you get two fans (usually 230v fans which are more powerfull) one for the front of the van the other for the back,

A good system and quicker to get the van nice and warm but no timer and more costly to run than the alde system, allthough you can upgrade with the electric element kit which is standered in most british vans, so you can use site electric,

i have upgraded mine with the electric kit and also swapped the rear fan to a 12v one so if i lose site electric i can still blow warm air round the bedrooms,

all in all both systems work great but i would have to say the alde system is better,(should of said that on the first line)

just a thought but have you looked at the cabby`s same build quility as hobby and fendt if not better and has alde system fitted with under floor heating option, these keep you snug inside when its -20 outside

or buy the van you want and the have alde system fitted (its what i do for a living service repair install)go for the 3010 compact combi this will give you water off the gas as well, which hobby and fendt has to be upgraded
