SEARCH FOR AN ELUSIVE TABLE OR ADVISE ON REPAIR!!!

Postby heyjude » Mon Mar 24, 2008 7:44 pm

Hi,
I am looking for a table the Hobby I have bought has a table that has been left out in the rain.
We have tried painting and staining and it looks awful, a new top will cost £200 plus.
Has anyone succssfully repaired one if so colours used etc would be appreciated (it's a 2005 700 )
Or are there any specialist breakers out there I have checked out dozens to no avail.
Many thanks :P

You can make a better new top from veneered plywood sheet 3/4" thick and edged with strips of hardwood to match the ply veneer and then rounded off. Then sandpaper smooth and varnish with yacht varnish for a really hard-wearing long-lasting finish.

I made mine with ash to match my van's woodwork.

2 days work.

I am all for customer service but I will not call O'Learys again. The tone of the mans voice when isaid Hobby well...........I'm glad we don't do Hobby's he says! Talk about judgemental.

Just though you should know.

I am going to get the table repaired by a Smart Repairer, I have used them before for a Hymer table top and they say they can match the edging no problem, I thought the job may be too big for them originally, we just need to extract the kitchen drawer as a sample for them to copy now.

I'll let you know how we get on.

Presume we are talking about O'leary Motorhomes and supplies just outside of Hull. I suspect that the guy you spoke to was Mick O'Leary himself, that would certainly explain the response you received. The other guy who runs it is called Russ and I have found him to be very good even when he was getting a bollocking off the boss for selling me something too cheap !!!!!!!
Cheers
