Ebay..Bargain Or Not

Postby Hobbynut » Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:43 am

Quite a number of Hobby spares come up for sale on Ebay..Some are without a doubt a genuine bargain and some are definitley not..For example there is currently a rear light unit for sale at £60 plus £10 p&p..This model of light unit is also used by most British caravan manufacturers and is a Hella Caraluna 2 available at any good accessory shop for around £55..Just because an item is fitted to a Hobby is doesn't always mean it will be expensive and hard to obtain..BEWARE
Cheers

Not sure which Caraluna is being discussed but the later Hobbys ,2003 on, have a Caraluna rear light specific to Hobby and is NOT fitted to any other make. This is the one with two white lens one above the other for indicator and reverse lamps. Other makes of caravan have the white lens side by side. £60 is about the price in Germany for a Hobby rear light lens unit.

Chaps I am happy to say I was the winner of the Hobby rear light off ebay, I have checked all other Hello Caraluna models and could not find one which would fit a hobby from any local parts suppliers . The UK hobby dealer quoted me £100 for a new one, they are about €100 in Europe. I was pleased to get this one off ebay, it is brand new and still wrapped. I just need to mod it now to take a fog light bulb!
I am on the quest to find a left hand side lens now, I managed to crack both lenses in a matter of weeks! Wish I had waited and bought a 2007 model with the vertical lights!
