Vehicle Registration Plate Brackets

Postby 5degrees » Wed May 27, 2009 8:32 am

I have a caravan which is shared by my family and my friends. It is kept in storage and when either of us wants to use it we simply tell the other and go and collect it.

The other week I made the error of not checking which reg plate was on the back of the caravan before I set off and murphy's law meant I got pulled over about 40miles into the journey.

I had the correct plate in the boot of the car but nothing to fix it to the caravan with at the time. I quite rightly got a ticket which I dont dispute.

What I am hoping is that someone knows of an open topped bracket that I can permanently attached to the caravan and then I can simply slide the required plate in and out when needed?

I have searched the web and the likes of eBay and found nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi 5degrees!

Sounds like you need the type of registration plate holder that they fit to Truck Trailers and takes a Square Registration Plate, as the driver carries a spare plate and just slots it into the holder which is held in place by a spring if my memory is correct.

Maybe a Truck Dealer would be able to help?

Good luck.

OK,
Then the only thing I can think of would be Heavy Duty Velcro which they are now using in Caravans to hold some parts together.

It's normally black in colour and sticks like the proverbial to a blanket!!

With 3 squares, 1 each side and 1 in the middle for each plate then the other bit on the caravan should resolve the problem.
