I am using my new hobby 540wlu for the first time and was reading through the handbook selection etc and found in the blue folder a metal plate , its about 4" by 8" with a blue protective cover on it , i think its stainless steel , does anybody know what its for???

Athough I have never used mine as I do not use the gas hob, it fits loosely on the right hand side of the hob to prevent the tap from being melted.
