I do believe the 540 is legal tow in this country any larger than this say a 560 is illegal. because its over 2.5 meters wide. alot of the uk caravans are over 7 meters including the A frame.

For what its worth I'll join in the thread.

The shipping length of a 540(2004) is 7.37m
The body length is 6.17=20'3", this excludes the ladder on the back.

We bought a 19'-21' cover from camping international for about £125, and it was a perfect fit, we also bought a separate cover for the hitch, handbrake and jockey wheel. We were quite pleased with the fitting of it except for the fact the zips for access are on the wrong side.

I do not wish to get into a long drawn out debate on caravan sizes, I think most of us are aware of the width restrictions, but I thought the max length is 8m excluding A frame, otherwise it would be illegal to tow anything above a 610 even with a 7.5 tonner.

Would the boys in blue object to me permanently fitting a sun room on the roof, or is there a height restriction as well? :D :D :D :D

The legal length of a trailer for road use is 7 meters EXCLUDING the towing frame. The trailer length can be 12 meters IF the towing vehicle is more than 3500kg AND the trailer has 4 wheels ( and therefore width can then be 2.55m) The maximum overall length is 18.75 meters. There is no height restriction in the U.K but 4 meters applies in some European countries. Any vehicle higher than 3 meters requires a notice visible to the driver indicating the height. If you go ahead with the roofdeck I can do a cheap line these indicators!
