Truma Therme Wanted

Postby nigel129 » Fri Apr 10, 2009 2:51 am

Due to frost damage , i may be looking for a second hand repalcement for my 5lt truma therme. Not interested in upgrading to anything else but hoping someone else has and doesnt want an arm and a leg for a replacement for my damaged one which only gets used a few times a year.
Im looking at repair options as well if anyone has successfully repaired one
thanks

Truma Therme

Postby mingdiesel » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:41 pm

Hi Nigel129

I am considering upgrading my 5L trumatherme to 10L or 14L Ultrastore so am interested in your post.
I plan to use my Caravan on some CL's where there's no 230VAC so plan to upgrade to UltraStore so I can heat water by Gas or Elec when present and find therme hopeless on Gas.
My Caravan is a 2006 540UK and therme original unit like new and used last week.

Trying to reduce cost of changing to Ultrastore which costs about £330 so will consider reasonable offer considering replacement boiler alone costs £60.

Therme doesnt seem to drain well unassisted and frost damage common so I use air pressure from handpump on hose back through taps to blow any remaining water through both open drain cocks before winter.

regards

Hi Ming
ill keep your offer safe for a week or two as due to a knee injury i havent been able to fully remove the unit from the van. theres also the very queer clips on the pipes which look as if theyre going to be a right pig to remove (ill be using good old jubilee clips when replacing)
Ive priced various parts options from a supplier and depending on the amount of damage the frost has caused it could cost anywhere between £25 and the cost of a new one.that being the case id take you offer of £60 in a mo. BTW where are you based as that might throw a spanner in the works.
thanks for reply
