Postby dynamicdog » Fri Sep 12, 2008 5:15 am

hi
i am going to fit an electroboiler in place of the therme. the problem is there is an on off switch provided but the therme is switched from the control panel near the door, what should i do/use. i would prefer to use the control panel and not use the switch with the electroboiler can anyone see any problems with this.
many thanks in advance

Shouldn’t be a problem. As both as 240 volt just disconnect the electrical connection from the therm and wire it into the new boiler, (Obvious I know, but don’t forget to disconnect the van from the mains feed just to be safe while working on the electric )
Does the new boiler have Gas ? if not have you thought about having a boiler that does have the ability to use gas, bit more fitting I know but worth it for the convenience of having both

You will find that the Elektroboiler switch is not just a simple switch.

On mine the boiler is alongside the panel between the sink and the seating, so I mounted the Elektroboiler control on this panel so that it is actually covered by the side of the upright back of the seat cushion.
The boiler is then powered by the cable removed from the Therme and is still controlled by the illuminated switch on the control panel.

You will need a hole saw to do this.

You also need a short length of heater ducting to bridge the gap left by the removal of the Therme.

A short length of 2½" drainpipe does nicely but I found there was sufficient slack to pull the two ends together.
