Advise for 4x4 ?? Help!! Should I go for the new Crv?

Postby honda_puller » Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:41 am

Hi Guys,
Pretty new to this but basicallyt I have a Hobby 540uf and need to upgrade my pulling power!!!
My (beautiful) wife decided to take our car out for a spin last weekend and decided the hedge and tree was a nice place to park the car and pretty much has killed it (8 year old honda 4x4 crv by the way).

Now it is a matter of buying a new car- partically for the hobby, I want to buy new and my local honda dealer (bristol honda in brislington) are doing a massive new car sale selling new crvs for less than 20K !!!
Does anyone know about this and weather its true??? and is it worth it?

My son wants to take a look at the civic turbo r-type which he says is ridiculous cheap as well but I dont think that will be overly sensible for me anyway!!!
If anyone knows any more info on this sale let me know as at the moment nothing is said on there website - www.bristolhonda.co.uk I will keep looking anyway

Hi Honda Puller.

I think I would be making sure that the vehicle you are looking at can comfortably pull a 540uf.

From my conversation with another Hobby Owner, his 540 'weighs in' at 1500Kg so for a bit of 'oomph' should you need it I think I would be sticking 100kg on top of that and making sure that the 'Tug' can handle 1600kg minimum.

Good luck

My 540 weighs in at 1600Kg but I did have a 50kg upgrade.

Hi chrome dog.

Having just returned from a tour of Scotland and passed a garage just off the M6 where we saw a glut of 4x4 vehicles that had their prices cut by up to £5000 on both 2nd Hand and New!

Would this 2500cc 4x4 by any chance fit the following criteria as well?

Ex, Far East Manufacture?
Sadly Depreciates in value very quickly?
DVLC advise that it will attract a VED of £400/annum from 2009?

It's sad the way motoring has also in some cases become a throw away society.
