Stolen 4th April

Postby marshall » Mon Apr 04, 2005 8:28 pm

:( My 2004 model Hobby 560UK was stolen from behind my house today. It was fitted with a Bulldog hitchlock which was obviously no problem to the thieves.

It is very difficult to tow out of my driveway, the rear of the caravan has hit the fence as they departed and broken the plastic offside rear corner protector.

My home is in Dronfield near Chesterfield. If anyone sees 560UK with damage at the offside rear please let me know. I would also be interested to know of any casual sites with a recent addition of a Hobby 560 UK.

Thanks Marshall.

stolen hobby

Postby audisport » Mon Apr 04, 2005 11:22 pm

Hi Marshall. Sorry to here of your loss. My friend had his hobby 650 stolen from storage in the early hours off Friday morning. they used oxy/gas cutters to remove the palisaid fencing, hitchlock and clamp. then out via a plouged field. They then returned for the other hobby.
The police was informed that a caravan had just been seen at 4 a.m exiting a plouged field at the side of a caravan storage yard but did nothing. What hope have the rest of us got ?. Even if we fit tracking divices to our caravans the police are to scared to retreive them. I am thinking of painting mine Pink and renaming it Nobby.
Paul.

Marshall I too am very sorry to hear that your new 560 has been taken. I am on the road from SW Scotland to NE England for the next few days with my 540 and I will specifically watch out for your van.

If I see anything suspicious I shall notify the police and let you know when I get back next week.

Let's hope it is found sooner rather than later.

Youve got me worried now as i have a hobby not far from you as i live in the same area but besides bolting it to the ground and taking off all the wheels and then building a wall around it i have no choice hopefully they will be put off as being a much older model (hopefully) but i am not going to let it run my life i love my van it has loads of security add ons so thats it.
Just a quick cheap tip all it costs is a permanent market pen plaster your chassis number on every panel you can i.e. seat panels(wood) as it is a bitch to get off when sunk into grain also in cupboards etc.

Hi we were worried when we bought our caravan last year i was going to buy 2 wheelclamps but decided to spend the money on a big saltire at the back of the van it does limit us when we go to sell but we hope not to do that for a while and it also stands out so hopefully no one will bother with it.
500 kmfe excellent easy
