hello
i have a colman unit fitted on the roof its the 50kilo model,we had to cut a fresh hole over the bedroom compartment to get it to sit properly it works great and does,nt seem to affect the stability of the van, just 50 kilo of the avaliable loading weight oops

Hi I have the B2100 Dometic Climate Air Conditioner , which is mounted on the roof at thr rear of the caravan between the heki rooflight and the mains ceiling light in a 540Ufe. It only requires a 400mm x 400mm hole cut in the roof and of course a mains supply cable tracked neatly under the inside roof panel.
This model is digital , set the temperature and forget. It is also has a built in heater.
I find this unit excellent , whereas I've been in a 500Uff whic is smaller and the Truma Frostair was useless, as well as taking up half the fixed bed under storage.
Another plus side for the Dometic is, if you are changing your hobby to another model, the unit is easily removed, and a standard 400mmx400mm pop up roof light clamps into it's place. Downside is if you change to a British built van, (and I'm pretty sure you won't after the Hobby) the roof is too flimsy and won't support the the weight.
