ATTEMPTED THEFT

Postby dynamicdog » Fri Oct 03, 2008 9:59 pm

At around 12:45 today my wife phoned me at work to tell me that a neighbour had scared off some kids tampering with our 500 kmfe. she said they had removed the jockey wheel which turned out later to be the strong hold wheel clamp by just simply pulling hard on each of the arms that fit behind the tire wall and bending them out thus removing the clamp in seconds. I came home straight away to find four men within 6 inches of attaching my van to their car!!!! they came back with more tools. I chased them and they got away. I did have a winthoff hitch lock but they cut that off with a petrol diamond tip cutter which they left behind and the police now have. also they have the car reg no which surprisingly is registered to that make and model of car and not a stolen plate. so there may be hope yet. but what surprises me most is something the soco girl said when she came to get prints, that most anti theft devices are made from materials that even when touched with the sweetiest of fingers cannot yield a single print. what the hell are we to do!! by the way its now 11pm and not a single police officer has been to the scene only the soco girls. it could've been worse i could've lost the van so i suppose the security did work if only to slow them down a bit.
ANY TOP SUGGESTIONS ON FUTURE SECURITY WOULD BE BRILL

Hate to be negative but as I have posted on here and other websites, these people are professionals and come equipped with everything they need...Gas cutting gear, petrol powered tools and when they did a caravan storage compound near me they brought a Mitsubishi Shogun to tow the vans across a ploughed field so that they could be attached to the dreaded Ford transit van..I believe that they can't be stopped but I think you hit the nail on the head when you said your security devices " slowed them down "
On one visit to the storage compound they just setteld for stealing Hobby windows, entry doors, fronts of gas fires and cutlery drawers, all very popular items according to Ambergate
Cheers

Its wasn't me...The big lads did it and ran away
