AS I am about to buy what I think is a 2006 Prestige model can I tell from the chassis number the year of manufacture. As everything appears to be the same as 2005 model. Help would be appreciated.

One of the letters in the chassis number indicates the year but I can't remember which one - but there was on post on this forum a little while ago listing all the year codes - guess it is still there, have you tried a search?

The first of the last 6 numbers on the chassis plate is the build year on recent models. e.g. WHB24A24MOF501234 = 2005. The letters & numbers before this are manufacturer and body codes. Hobby tend not to make annual major changes to body styles but minor changes to interiors. The last changes were for the 2005 models with new electrics and interior lighting. AKAIK there are no major changes for 2006.

Not a direct answer, but all 2005 and 2006 models are the same, Hobby as I understand change models every other year so a change won't be seen until 2007 models. I wanted a 2006 540 UK but a 3 month wait meant we opted for a 2005, after a lot of searching the feedback from dealers in UK, France and Germany was of a change in model spec every other year.

Correct on my 2006 model very little change over 2005 vans.
