Hi Garry
First thing you need is a good deal on a ferry - Dover Calais through the Caravan Club seems best at present. Then use RAC Routemaster to plot your route to Monchen Gladbach. Franz Josef is now a member of this site so you should PM him and arrange for a local caravan site to try out the van - anyone who has imported their van will tell you to do this. It is important just to make sure everything is in working order. Don't rush back, my advice would be to take two or three days getting home and enjoy the van.
Harry
PS Don't forget to take a red 6kg gasbottle and order a regulator adaptor from FJ.

Hi guys :D

Well I’ve just got back with my new 540UK from our friends @ FJ.

Had a great time and very friendly welcome in Germany made things much easier.

Well wot what did I do...............

Got myself an excellent crossing between Dover nd Calais, three day return @ £100 - return included a free ride for my new van \0/

Traveled to Brugge and enjoyed @ great stay over there (60 euros for a family rm) - plenty of beer and as many ribs as I could eat - u must visit a restaurant called the Hobbit - fantastic.

Then traveled to Germany the next day, avoid Antwerp if you can - it’s got a width restriction of 2m on the ring road which gets you lost big time when your towing!

Got loads of help and plenty of advice from FJ nd staff then the storm started - hmmm - if you thought the south east was battered last week wow it started where we were and followed me all the way back to the Brugge!! Never mind though made me drive much more slowly hehehe.

Stayed overnight @ one of the motorway services - showers and everything’s you could wish for - they are so much better geared up for travelers on the continent 8)

Traveled back to Calais and caught the ferry back on Thursday.

Would I do it all again - of course - maybe next time get the ferry to Holland so not as much driving involved but was a good trip.

New 'van from F-J

Hi Garry,

Glad you had an enjoyable 'pick-up' of your new 'van. I thought Brugges was great, so if anyone wants an overnight stop on their way to Rheindahlen, Brugges has two votes already.

Enjoy your new 'van.
Cheers, Doc.
