<font face="Comic Sans MS">A good site for those challenged by the german language is the Dutch<font size="6"></font id="size6"> dealer at :campoworld.nl/international they sell Hobby and other Euro brands.
The price quoted to me at Joeressens for a 495Ufe is €12550,at CampoWorld it was €14000 but this includes a warranty for the UK so you pay your money etc etc.
The site will also give you the number of a contact in the UK.<font face="Comic Sans MS"></font id="Comic Sans MS"><font size="5"></font id="size5"><font color="blue"></font id="blue"></font id="Comic Sans MS">

A very useful site for English translations of German technical caravanning terms, is to be found at http://www.wohnwagen-lohmann.com/eng/dictionary.html

I found the dealer, Lohmanns, very helpful and competetive, but it wasn't so conveniently located for me. Had an e-mail from a guy I'd helped with importing, a few months back, and he'd used Lohmanns and had been very impressed.

Cheers, Doc

Hi Guy's

We are back from Joeressen's in Germany with our brand new Excellent Easy 540 UFE. :D :D ..we had a great trip over Dover to Calais . The roads over there are so very good.

Joeressens treated us as if we were family (it is a family run company and they speak English very well too) they helped us understand every little thing about our new van.

They arranged a camp site for us (about 15 mins) where we were able to rest up and also test the van. We found nothing wrong with it at all !!. Nice pub just down the road too!

They fitted gas adaptors for us so we could use our Red UK 6kg bottle which I had taken with us and even gave me a good few hints on how to fit my own 12v battery and charging system.

The van was £4k cheaper than the lowest price we had found in UK. Also the Derby based UK Hobby dealer's have agreed to do the servicing etc for us.

Joeressens's gave us a full manual in English plus a copy in German so that we may fully understand every thing about the van.

The quality of build is first class as was the service and coffee supplied by Joeressen's, only 250 mile from Calais and 95% motorway.

Yes, we highly recommend Joeressens as a place to buy your next Hobby Caravan. We will! but not this year... :P

Hi John - Glad you managed to pick up the van without any hic-cups - and pleased tp hear everything went Ok with our good friend FJ.
Better than an English van eh - and a lot cheaper.
Always nice to help out and offer good buying tips.

Yep harrycee
Without this forum and all the guy's that make it work plus the members helpful post's...We would have bought from Derbyshire and paid a lot more.

Our thanks go to every one....

I have also sent a e-thankyou to the staff at Joeressen's as they did a firstclass job and as yet we have not found a single thing wrong with the van.

Buying abroad

Postby keith » Wed May 19, 2004 11:06 pm

Hi I see you are all happy buying abroad, I am thinking of buying a 450 UF as a first Hobby. Are there any problems with importing i.e. duty VAT ? What about servicing here will the dealers service or do you have to return to wherever?
Keith.

Hi Keith - No VAT or Duty to pay on import, all included in the price quoted.
Most of us on here have arranged servicing through Ambergate.
Go get one.

Buying a 450UF

Postby Doc » Thu May 20, 2004 7:05 pm

keith,

As harry says, no VAT or registration problems (like cars). No different from buying cases of wine; except the amount of money!

I got a 450UB (Excellent) from Joeressens a couple of years ago, but. . .
it pays to hunt around different dealers for the 'best price'. {See Pearl's experiences}.

If you want a 'van before August, you've left it rather late, as Hobby cease production of 2004 models towards the end of July, and will most likely be only building pre-ordered models now. I ordered my 450UB in December 2001 and it was delivered in July 2002!!

If you aren't bothered about delivery dates then you are in a powerful position, as dealers will be discounting any unsold stock to get rid of it by August /Sept. {Joeressens were writing out the discount price window stickers when I collected my 'van!}

This is what I originally tried to do in Aug/ Sept. 2001, but there was only one Excellent 450UB I could find; outside Berlin! Too far to go even though it was ~£6000.

This 'lottery' of what is available, is rather model dependant. When I was looking there were quite a few 440's, 495's & 500's etc still available, BUT be aware that many may be the less sought-after De Luxe range, rather than Excellent, Prestige & Exclusive. Also you may need to retro-fit any options you want.

BTW the best Caravan Show in Europe is held in Dusseldorf end Aug. beginning of Sept. (see http://www.messe-duesseldorf.de/caravan/en/ba_factsfigures.html ) and I've heard of quite a few Brits who've gone there and ordered 'vans at 'show prices' or gone along the 'strip' outside Dusseldorf (lots of caravan dealers along the same road) and got brilliant end-of-season deals. I've always been at work when the show is on!!!
Cheers, Doc.

Hi To All Members

I have been asked to post my experience as a first time buyer, (a virgen Ha Ha HA) . I have purchased my Hobby caravan from Hobby-Hexel (after thinking my car was to light to tow it :( ). The Caravan is a 2004 June manufactured 460 UFe Excellent priced at Euro 11600.00 :D , not including all the necessary extras. I had started to deal with Joeressen for the same model plus 5 piece awning (could not fix a annex-cheapie model) for Euro 1266.00 I have been informed that I have managed to get a very good price, this being so I would like to recommend Peter Hexel to any new members who wish to import for the first time as I forgot to order the extras as I didn't know I needed them  after e:mailing PeterHexel@t-online.de he managed to secure them for me even though it was over a week later than my original order. What great customer service  .

Well I hope this information will encourage others to do the same "buy a new caravan in Germany for a second hand price in the U.K."
All I have to do now, is find my way to the Dortmund delivery centre.

Signing off for now.

Regards Pearl.

Hello to All Members,

Have received e:mails for more information about extras,
been asked what were the extras I bought and what did they cost.

Gasboiler 10Ltr..........Euro 0670.00 (£452.00)
Autark-Paket.............Euro 0830.00 (£560.00)
50 Ltr Watertank........Euro 0065.00 (£044.00)

Hope this answers any questions about extras and their 2004 prices I paid.

Regards Pearl.
